Rev. Martin Ray Peters - Victory Baptist Church (Oakland, CA)

Pastor Martin Ray Peters became the Senior Pastor at the Victory Baptist Church on October 20, 2008, where his father Dr. Jewel Ray Peters, founder and Senior Pastor, passed the mantle to his oldest son.  The focus of the VBC ministry is to exemplify the love of Jesus Christ, more importantly, to save souls but as well, to exercise a passion for helping people walk VICTORIOUSLY in their daily lives and ambitions. His ministry operates in gifts and dynamic illustrative preaching that empowers all who listens.

Although known as a “whooping preacher,” Pastor Marty teaches his listeners the ingredients of gaining Victory- over- the tactics of –Satan. He believes that there is a discipline to decision-making that is relative to life changing concepts which brings divine reversal within the lives of the people who love God and are hungry for change.

Pastor Marty’s ministry transcends beyond the normal religious traditions of man. Through his passion to touch lives, the church has been a blessing to countless people through its ministries. Upon his calling to pastorship, he re-established the distribution of food, clothing and personal toiletries spearheaded by The Locker Room men’s ministry.

Prior to his role as pastor, Rev. Martin Peters served as youth pastor at the Victory Baptist Church where he and his mother, Lady Dolores Peters established a council of youth called, The CLIC (Committed Leaders in Christ.) This talented group became well known throughout the country in music and arts, which was a viable vehicle of Victory to instill Bible principles, value clarification and social awareness. After moving to Atlanta to pursue his degree, he turned the program over to his sister, where it remained solid for over 15 years.

Presently, he is re-working a similar concept for the next generation youth. Determined to make his ministry the main focal point of his life, it is noteworthy that he moved to Atlanta at age 26 to become a freshman at Morris Brown College, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Religion, which is an example of his philosophy of making productive decisions with thought and guidance of the Holy Spirit. He was also youth pastor of several other churches within his 9 year stay in Atlanta, GA. Upon graduation, he began a co-pastorship at the Victory Baptist Church, partnering with his father while embracing his responsibility as a single father.

Raised in Oakland, CA, he knows the survival kit of “the hood” therefore he can identify with the inner-city community as well as those of all walks -of -life.

With a vision to empower the city of Oakland to “Walk Victoriously By Making Holy Spirit –Lead Decisions” Pastor Marty has proven to be a driven and determined man of God. He is a leader, an avid reality preacher and teacher who has become a trailblazer to many other young preachers. He balances his ministry life as a dedicated pastor and a devoted father to his precious daughter, Marissa Rae Peters.
